The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People is a UN observance day. It is celebrated on 29 November every year since 1978. The day is also known as Solidarity Day. It’s a day to remember that the Palestinian people have not yet attained certain inalienable rights, including national independence and sovereignty.
History
In 1977, the General Assembly called for the annual observance of 29 November as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People (resolution 32/40 B). On that day, in 1947, the Assembly adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine.
Israeli–Palestinian conflict
The Israeli–Palestinian conflict is one of the world's most enduring conflicts, with the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip reaching 54 years of conflict. Various attempts have been made to resolve the conflict as part of the Israeli–Palestinian peace process. Up till now, it shows no sign of impending resolution.
