Children's day is celebrated annually in honor of children on November 14 in India. Children's Day is also known as Bal Diwas. It is celebrated on 14 November every year as a tribute to India's First Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, fondly known as Chacha Nehru among children.
National Children's Day
Initially, Children's Day was celebrated in India on 20 November, on United Nations World Children's Day. But after the death of Nehura in 1964, it was decided to celebrate Children's Day on his birthday considering the fact that Nehru was always very affectionate to children.
Nehru believed that "The children of today will make the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country." He has worked for the education, well-being and welfare of the children. He is considered to be the architect of modern India and contributed immensely towards the development of the country.
